IPL in Gangnam, Seoul at BLS Clinic Main Branch is a 20–30 minute photofacial that uses broadband pulsed light to fade sun spots, freckles and diffuse redness. Treated spots darken and flake off within about 5–10 days, with only mild redness for a few hours. Improvement builds over a series of 3–5 sessions. Quick answer
What Is IPL?
IPL (intense pulsed light) is a non-laser light treatment that delivers a broad spectrum of visible and near-infrared light through filters. Melanin in brown spots and haemoglobin in small vessels absorb the light and heat up, so pigment fades and redness softens.
Unlike a laser, which uses one precise wavelength, IPL covers a wide band of light – roughly 500–1,200 nm. That makes it useful for sun-damaged skin with a mix of brown spots and redness, often called a photofacial or photorejuvenation.
The broad light also means IPL is less selective. It works best on lighter, untanned skin, and it is generally not the first choice for melasma, which can darken with heat. For melasma, a doctor will usually suggest Laser Toning instead.

Who Is IPL Right For?
Adults with lighter skin who have scattered sun spots, freckles or diffuse redness from sun exposure.
IPL is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, on recently tanned or self-tanned skin, over active infections, or with photosensitising medicines. Darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) have a higher risk of burns and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, so the doctor may recommend a laser option instead. Melasma is usually treated differently.
- Brown sun spots on the cheeks, nose or hands
- Freckles that darken in summer
- Diffuse facial redness or flushing
- A blotchy, sun-damaged complexion
- Skin that is not currently tanned

FAQ
IPL in Seoul – Frequently Asked Questions
How much is IPL in Gangnam, Seoul?
The price of IPL at BLS Clinic Main Branch is confirmed after a doctor consultation, because it depends on the area and the number of sessions. You can see current listed prices on the clinic price page or ask on WhatsApp.
Is IPL a laser?
No. IPL uses broadband light filtered to a range of wavelengths, while a laser emits one precise wavelength. IPL treats brown spots and redness together, but it is less selective than a laser.
Does IPL hurt?
IPL feels like a series of warm snaps, similar to a rubber band. Cooling gel makes it comfortable for most people, and numbing cream is rarely needed.
How many IPL sessions do I need?
Most people need 3–5 IPL sessions about 3–4 weeks apart. Spots often fade noticeably after the first session, while redness takes several sessions.
Can IPL treat melasma?
IPL is generally not recommended for melasma because heat can make it darker. Low-energy laser toning or pico toning is usually a safer choice for melasma.
Is IPL safe for darker skin?
IPL carries a higher risk of burns and pigment changes in darker or tanned skin. At BLS Clinic in Seoul, the doctor checks your skin type first and may recommend a laser option if IPL is not a good fit.
Can I do IPL on a short trip to Seoul?
Yes. IPL takes about 20–30 minutes and you can go out the same day with sunscreen. Darkened spots flake within about a week, so book early in your stay if you want them gone before you leave.
